Uniforms
The Cub Scout uniform consists of a shirt, shorts or pants, belt, socks, hat, neckerchief, and neckerchief slide.
Lions wear a Lion t-shirt, Arrow of Light scouts wear a tan uniform shirt, all others wear the blue Cub Scout uniform shirt.
Pack 229 scouts can wear the Cub Scout blue uniform shorts or HSS uniform shorts.

Pack 229 provides the Neckerchief, and Neckerchief slide. All other uniform pieces and the scout book for your specific rank can be purchased at the South Bay Scout Shop located at 1900 The Alameda, San Jose.
Patch Placement
When purchasing the uniform shirt from the Scout Shop, many of these patches come pre-sewn.
- Left Sleeve
- Council Crest - Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council
- Unit Numerals: 229 (provided by the pack)
- Right Sleeve
- US Flag
- Den Number (provided by the pack)
- Above Left Pocket
- World Crest Emblem and World Crest Ring
- Religious Emblems
- Left Pocket, Below Pocket Flap
- Cub Scout Rank Emblems, in a diamond pattern:
- Top (12 o’clock): First rank earned (commonly Lion)
- Left (9 o’clock): Second rank earned (commonly Tiger)
- Right (3 o’clock): Third rank earned (commonly Wolf)
- Bottom (6 o’clock): Fourth rank earned (commonly Bear)
- Cub Scout Rank Emblems, in a diamond pattern:
- Right Pocket
- Temporary Patches earned on campouts or other activities (usually hung on the button)
