Scouting for Food is an ongoing annual program of the Boy Scouts of America, begun in 1985 by the Greater Saint Louis Area Council. The program involves collecting for local food banks. It is organized at the local level throughout the country. Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement and its dedication to implement the Scout Slogan and do a good turn daily.

This year we will be collecting for Sacred Heart Community Center.

Weโ€™ll hand out door hangers at the October Pack meeting which you should then distribute around your neighborhood.

Then on Saturday November 2nd at 9:00 AM youโ€™ll return to collect any donations that are left out.

Food Drop Off

  • At the Holy Spirit Courtyard by the Church on Saturday, November 2nd from 11am to 1pm
  • At the November Pack Meeting
  • After school pick-up time on Monday November 4th.

Please reach out to this yearโ€™s organizer Jennifer Schneider if you canโ€™t make any of these times.

Religious Emblems Programs

Religious Emblems Programs

If you are interested in fostering your scoutโ€™s Catholic identity and faith, the Religious Emblems program is a great way to establish regular conversation on matters of faith and service. Upon completion of a parent-directed workbook, your scout will receive a religious emblem to pin to their uniform. They will receive this emblem at a Sunday, March 30th at 4:00 PM Catholic Scouting Prayer Service and Recognition Ceremony at the beautiful Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph in downtown San Jose.

  • Email Jeannie by Monday, October 16, if you want your scout to participate in this program.
  • Order the appropriate workbook (see below) OR place an order with Jeannie (Venmo @Jeanne-Jakob-1 phone 9912) with the age-appropriate workbook for your scout.
  • Deadline to complete the workbook is February 15.

Let Jeannie know if you would like to form study groups before or after 9:30am Sunday Holy Spirit masses to help kids complete the workbooks with their peers.

Raingutter Regatta

Raingutter Regatta

Itโ€™s time to get out the paint and glue and put on your creative caps for our annual Raingutter Regatta! You should have received your boat kit at the pack meeting last week, please reach out to your Den leader if you still need one.

Siblings are welcome! We kindly request a $10 donation to cover the cost of the kit and awards for non Scounts.

Boat Building: Before the races begin, put on your creative cap and assemble your very own mini sailboat. This hands-on experience encourages problem-solving and craftsmanship.

Race Day Excitement: Watch as your handcrafted sailboat takes to the water in friendly competition! Blow on the sails and navigate your vessel along the rain gutter racetrack. Itโ€™s a test of precision and strategy.

Refreshments: Enjoy a Pizza lunch as you mingle with other Scouts and families. Itโ€™s a great time to share stories and build connections.

What to Bring: Please bring your boat, a sense of adventure, and a willingness to have a blast!

Friendly Competition: Compete against fellow Cub Scouts, families, and friends. Cheering, encouragement, and sportsmanship are all part of the fun.

Awards & Prizes: Celebrate the winners and recognize the effort and creativity that went into boat design. Prizes will be awarded to the top sailors and there will also be a design award for best design.

Rules: Please See More for boat and race rules.

Donโ€™t miss this opportunity for your Cub Scout to learn about teamwork, craftsmanship, and the joy of friendly competition. The Cub Scout Raingutter Regatta is a family-friendly event that combines fun and learning in a unique and exciting way.

Whether youโ€™re a seasoned sailor or a first-time boat builder, this event promises memorable moments and a sense of accomplishment.

Canโ€™t wait to see you all out there!
