Scouting for Food is an ongoing annual program of the Boy Scouts of America, begun in 1985 by the Greater Saint Louis Area Council. The program involves collecting for local food banks. It is organized at the local level throughout the country. Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement and its dedication to implement the Scout Slogan and do a good turn daily.
This year we will be collecting for Sacred Heart Community Center.
We handed out door hangers at the October Pack meeting. Please get in touch if you need more.
Then on Saturday November 15th at 9:00 AM youβll return to collect any donations that are left out.
Please reach out to this yearβs organizer Rosanna Gamez if you canβt make any of these times.
Pack 229 will again be decorating a Christmas Tree at San Joseβs Christmas in the Park.
Join us at the November Pack Meeting to help make ornaments and then on at 11/24 at 4:00 PM at Plaza de Cesar Chavez to decorate our tree! Make sure to sign up so we know whoβs coming.
We will be practicing for the Veterans Day assembly at school and making decorations for our Christmas in the Park tree.

Evening treats, Breakfast, & Lunch included.
Please eat dinner before you arrive on Friday or bring a sack dinner with you.
No camping gear will be provided. Please plan on using a hand cart to carry your tent and supplies to the upper campsites. If you will need assistance please let us know.
If you plan to attend, please add your family info here for pack planning.
Since this is an official BSA event, please make sure to have your health forms filled out and remember to bring them with you as they are quite strict with these. There is also an optional BB Device permission form to complete and bring should your Scout participate. Please note Cub Scout Lions are not eligible to participate in shooting activities, however, they will be able to enjoy the archery range. I recommend you keep copies of these forms for future events so you do not have to complete them again.
Welcome back Scouts! We will be having our first pack meeting of the school year on Monday September 8th at 6:30 PM in the library.
The Arrow of Light scouts will be our first service den for this meeting.
Weβll start the meeting with a uniform inspection for the new scouting year and discussing the Bobcat rank requirements.
We will be distributing the Raingutter Regatta boat kits and starting to work on them in dens. Scouts will need to finish painting and decorating their boats at home after the meeting. If you are unable to make the meeting please reach out to get your regatta boat kit.
Finally, we will work on the first advancement of the year: the Bobcat Adventure.

Itβs time to get out the paint and glue and put on your creative caps for our annual Raingutter Regatta! Weβll be starting to build our boats at the September Pack Meeting. If you are unable to make the meeting please reach out to get your regatta boat kit.
Siblings are welcome! We kindly request a $7 donation to cover the cost of the kit and awards for non Scouts.
Boat Building: Before the races begin, put on your creative cap and assemble your very own mini sailboat. This hands-on experience encourages problem-solving and craftsmanship. Please come up with a name and Register Your Boat before the event.
Race Day Excitement: Watch as your handcrafted sailboat takes to the water in friendly competition! Blow on the sails and navigate your vessel along the rain gutter racetrack. Itβs a test of precision and strategy.
Refreshments: Enjoy a Pizza lunch as you mingle with other Scouts and families. Itβs a great time to share stories and build connections.
What to Bring: Please bring your boat, a sense of adventure, and a willingness to have a blast!
Friendly Competition: Compete against fellow Cub Scouts, families, and friends. Cheering, encouragement, and sportsmanship are all part of the fun.
Awards & Prizes: Celebrate the winners and recognize the effort and creativity that went into boat design. Prizes will be awarded to the top sailors and there will also be awards for best design.
Rules: Please review the Raingutter Regatta Rules.
Donβt miss this opportunity for your Cub Scout to learn about teamwork, craftsmanship, and the joy of friendly competition. The Cub Scout Raingutter Regatta is a family-friendly event that combines fun and learning in a unique and exciting way.
Whether youβre a seasoned sailor or a first-time boat builder, this event promises memorable moments and a sense of accomplishment.
Canβt wait to see you all out there!
